Delticom increases turnover again in the third quarter

Hanover, 26.10.01. Delticom AG, a Hanover-based tyre dealing company and the leading European online tyre dealer, has reported a turnover of 4,8 million Euro (9,4 million DM) for the third quarter of the financial year of 2001. This corresponds to an increase of 130 percent in comparison to the same period last year (2,1 million Euro/4,1 million DM), which is more than double. This 3 digit growth rate shows that the positive trend at Delticom is continuing. "The summer months tend to be quiet in the tyre industry. This growth confirms our business model", underlined Delticom Managing Director Rainer Binder (43). According to Binder the success is based on a thorough knowledge of the tyre industry, international contacts, and a worldwide acquisition network, as well as online tyre shops in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and since the last quarter also in the UK. Further online shops in other European are being planned. The company currently employs 24 people.
The sales ratio between the two Delticom business areas remains unchanged; two-thirds resulting from wholesale and one third online sales. In the first 9 months of the current financial year, the turnover amounted to a total of 13,3 million Euro (26 million DM). As a result, the Delticom management is a adjusting its turnover expectation for the year 2001 (31.12.2001) from 15,2 million Euro (30 million DM) to 18 million Euro (35,2 million DM). This means that Delticom will more than double last year's turnover of 6,9 million Euro (13,4 million DM). The winter tyre business from October to December is the period with the highest turnover and Delticom is expecting further inceases.
"Wholesale has developed very positively in the third quarter", explained Binder, Managing Director responsible for the wholesale business. The number of exclusive and trade brands increased from 14 to 17, the number of countries, in which Delticom is represented with its brands increased from 40 to 45. Particularly Delticom's own tyre brand "Star Performer", a high performance tyre manufuctured in Europe, was able to establish itself better than expected. In the wholesale division, Delticom is expecting a turnover of approximately 12 million Euro (23,5 million DM) for the financial year 2001.
In the online division Delticom is expecting a turnover of about 6 million Euro (11,7 million DM). In the third quarter the number of service partner in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK increased from 1.000 to 1.500. The proportion of the online tyre shops contributing to the turnover has already reached 10 percent in Germany. "Our online tyre shops are a real success story", said Dr. Andreas Prüfer (38), Managing Director responsible for the online business. The turnover is supported by the number of hits or page impressions. Since September, the number of hits per day has increased to 60.000; during the same month approximately 2 million hits were registered, equaling the number of hits for the whole of last year (2,5 million Page Impressions).
