European market leader for tyre trade on the Internet
extends online offer to the French-speaking of Switzerland
Switzerland is largest foreign market
with more than ten percent share of the total online revenue
Hanover, 23.07.2002 The European market leader for tyre trade on the Internet, Delticom AG, Hanover, Germany has added an offer in French to its B2C tyre shop in Switzerland www.reifendirekt.ch. Until now Swiss motorists could only order their tyres for private, commercial and all terrain vehicles in German. "The French pages will provide access to French speakers in Switzerland to the extensive background information describing over 40 tyre brands and more than 10.000 tyre types", explained Delticom-Managing Director Andreas Prüfer (39) the step. Besides the comprehensive range of products, Delticom offers attractive conditions and prices. "Our customers report that we are up to 25 percent cheaper than offline offers", emphasized Rainer Binder (43), Delticom Managing Director. The E-Commerce strategy also convinced the police department in Bern: "Three things made me enthusiastic: the unbeatable low tyre price, the fast delivery, even to my home address, and the uncomplicated payment", explained Bruno Freiburghaus (41), service officer for the city police of Bern. The online tyre dealer promises a delivery time of maximum three working days to any location - home address, customer's current garage or one of Delticom's 90 service partners in Switzerland. Interested tyre fitters and service stations can register as a service partner at the online B2B shop www.autoreifenonline.ch. "Registered companies can buy tyres at dealer rates", added Binder.
In the past business year, Delticom earned a total revenue of 21.7 million Euro (approx. 31.7 million CHF), the foreign share amounting to approximately 10 percent. The Swiss business has been developing outstandingly favourable in comparison with other markets. In the first half of 2002 the tyre dealer earned over 1 million Swiss francs. This means that the Hanover-based company has increased its revenue ten times compared to last year. The Swiss share in total online revenue has increased to 10 percent. Switzerland is Delticom's strongest foreign market for E-Commerce. Not included in this calculation are the revenues of the recently opened B2B shop, www.autoreifenonline.ch, which was launched in April.
Delticom runs online tyre shops in six European countries. Besides Germany and Switzerland, this includes Austria, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Further expansion is planned. The service network includes more than 1600 service partners. These can be selected online when the tyres are ordered. The tyres are then sent directly to the tyre fitter selected.
